Gray (Henry), Alice Cecelia 75, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully, March 13, 2016 at QEII Infirmary.

Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late John and Greta (Abbott) Henry.

She is survived by her daughter Janice, her son John, sister Patricia (Bob) Grant, many cousins, in-law siblings, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph and sister Ruth.

She was a major Disney lover and it was something that she shared with Janice. They enjoyed their trips to Walt Disney World, watching the cartoon Disney movies, not live action. She loved her Disney wardrobe especially her Mickey crocs. Her best memories of Walt Disney World were: when they ate at Chef Mickey’s and Goofy waltzed with her around the dining room for about 10 minutes; having her photo taken in front of the big EPCOT sphere with Jan, Carrie, Jim and Tinkerbell; and of course when she got to meet Alice from Wonderland.

Alice had a major love for her animals, Bella was her bedtime friend always looking for rubs and kisses, Teddy (A.K.A. Teddybear) was her tv, knitting and cross stitch companion. Roman was her morning little buddy wanting the first attention. These fur babies were all brought into her family by her son John. She was always sewing his referee badges on to his clothing.

She enjoyed being involved with soccer tournaments and BBQ’s when Janice was coaching John’s teams. Loved listening and attending Daniel O’Donnell concerts where she saw two shows in three nights one time in Halifax and then left next morning to attend a Bangor concert, Ralph, Alice and Janice wore matching BRIGHT ORANGE t-shirts and a message was written on matching paper and when meeting Daniel he immediately recognized them and said, “This must be Alice and Ralph?” a memory that everyone has heard over and over again. She also liked Celtic Thunder and Rita MacNeil concerts. She enjoyed taking organ lessons with Janice and John. She played at dozens of weddings for family and friends.

She was an avid crafter from cross stitching, crocheting, tole painting, sewing, making teddy bears and anything else she could come up with. Knitting was her biggest passion where she started making Christmas stockings 40 years ago and they are all over the world. People that have them treasure them and it is known as “The Wall of Alice”.

She loved spending time with her baby sister Patricia (Pat), where she had awesome times visiting their cottage home in East Jeddore. She had fun going on many drives around Nova Scotia with her special cousin Carolyn, who was like a second sister; they were like Stompin’ Tom…”I’ve Been Everywhere”, they were on every highway in Nova Scotia within the past three weeks with their private chauffeur Jan at the wheel. She enjoyed the times she had with special friends that were like close family: Bangor trips with Pauline, Bill and the girls; Moncton trip with Darlene, Carrie and Jim; tea with Shelagh and Roxanne; lunches and snacks with Don, Donna and Deb; and sharing a bed with Diane while she was boarding at Diane’s parents home when she first came to Dartmouth. She also took pleasure in spending time with other family and friends doing a variety of activities.

She had many jobs over the years including: Bank of Montreal, NS Tractors and Equipment, Convergys, Superstore and Sobeys.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will be held Friday March 18 at 2:00 pm at the Army Navy Club, 137 Main Street, Dartmouth. Rev. Heather Manual officiating. In memory of Alice please wear colorful casual clothing as she enjoyed the wide world of color. Interment at Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at the service for the support of the pets that Alice has left behind.
