<div itemprop="description">Weir, Daniel Leroy &ndash; 59 of Halifax passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 9, 2015. Born in Amherst he was a son of Ruth (McCormack) and the Late Donald Weir. Dan grew up in Berwick where he attended Berwick School and West Kings District High School. On a scholarship, he attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York where he excelled academically and on the ice. He graduated from Dalhousie Law School and practiced in Halifax for over 30 years. He was inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame in the Athlete Category. He was a Junior Provincial Tennis Champion and while at Dalhousie he played on the only hockey team to make it to the National Finals. An avid sports fan he loved golf, baseball, football, hockey and his Olympics. He was loyal to his Steelers and Leafs right to the end. He cherished his evenings at the Lake. Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Wanda; son, Samuel (Kayleigh Dodge); two step-sons, Christopher (Kristina) and Jeffrey Mills; sister, Susan Connell; brother Greg (Kathy Corbin); one grandson, Hunter Mills, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cole Harbour Funeral Home. A gathering to celebrate his life for family and friends will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14th, at the Berwick and District Lion&rsquo;s Club, Kings Mutual Century Centre, 250 Veterans Drive, Berwick. At the Family&rsquo;s request, please wear your favorite sports attire. Donations in Daniel&rsquo;s memory may be made to the NS chapter of the Canadian Liver Foundation or charity of choice.
