<div itemprop="description">King, Donald Stewart &ldquo;Don&rdquo; &ndash; 84 of Dartmouth passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Halifax Infirmary QE II after a brief illness. Born in Victoria Cove Gander Bay Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Samuel and Matilda (Record) King. Don&rsquo;s early career started as school teacher in a one room schoolhouse and then as a scaler with Bowater in northern Newfoundland. He later joined the federal public service and served for 33 years with Employment Canada, retiring as a manager with the Dartmouth office. Don is survived by his wife of 60 years Aleta (Newhook); son, Derek (Sandra Martell), Halifax; daughter, Denise (Donald Jessome), Halifax; sisters, Gladys King, St. John&rsquo;s, Sybil McGuire, Ottawa; brother, Bernard, Victoria Cove, NL; grandchildren, Vanessa, Max, Maya and great grandson, Lucas. Along with his parents Don is predeceased by his brother, Clarence; sisters, Marjorie, Beatrice and Eileen. Visitation will be held from 7-9pm Thursday, July 30 with a funeral service 1pm Friday July 31 followed by a reception all in Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don&rsquo;s memory to The QE II Foundation, Halifax Infirmary.
