<div itemprop="description">Power, Doris Mary - Age 83, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2015 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. She was a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Wagner) Blackburn. She married Ralph Power in 1954. Mom and Dad were exuberant in family life, involved in all activities and celebrations. She was selfless and led a life dedicated to our Dad, the love of her life, and the care of their children. There was always a place for laughter in their home and she maintained her sense of humour and spark throughout her life. Dad was present in everything she did from 1954 to the day she died. Mom was an excellent cook and craftsperson, sewing for her children and home. She excelled in crochet, a beautiful talent she shared with her children and their many friends and colleagues over the years. While married, Mom and Dad loved to travel, were involved in lawn bowling, camping, hosting parties at their home and the infamous Natal Day gatherings on the front lawn of Sinclair Street (best seat in town for the fireworks, they would say!). She is survived by her children, Debbie (Paul Clarke), Diane (Kelly Robinson), Doreen (Robert Rounds), Joanne Power (Joseph Ryan); grandchildren, Julia and Jason Clarke, Ashley (Ryan Calhoun), Ryan Robinson, Kathleen and Emily Rounds, Jylene Ryan; greatgranddaughter, Chloe Calhoun; brother, Kenneth Blackburn, Dartmouth; sisters, Shirley Genereux, Bedford; Joan Vollick, Ontario; Marlene Blackburn, Sackville; Eileen Blackburn, Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Power, in 1992; her son, Ralph Power Jr., in February 2015; sisters, Thelma Dacey, Marie Power, Josephine Blackburn, Dorothy Wheatley, Lorraine Blackburn, Patricia Blackburn, Frankie Blackburn; and three brothers in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 10 at 11 a.m. in Saint John XXIII Roman Catholic Parish, 35 Colby Dr., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. At the family's request, no flowers please. Please direct memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Liver Foundation (Atlantic Canada Chapter). We would like to offer sincere thanks to Mom's family MD, Dr. David Creighton; her geriatrician, Dr. Katalin Koller; palliative care nurse, Joe Pratt; medical student, Lauren Hanes; VON nurses, specifically Melanie and Amber; and all nursing and physician care provided during her stay in hospital. You are forever in our hearts. Online condolences may be sent to: www.coleharbourfuneral.com</div>
