<div itemprop="description">Age 95 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on December 27, 2016 in Oakwood Terrace. <br> <br> <br> <br>Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Eliza (Cross) and Howard Thomas. <br> <br> <br> <br>Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Woodlawn United Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Axillary. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a dedicated homemaker and was very devoted to her whole family. <br> <br> <br> <br>She will be missed by her daughters, Judith (Roy) Walters, Catherine Zinck; grandchildren, Cindy (Dana Smith) Dauphnee, Tony (Patsy) and Brad Oxner; great-grandchildren Dylan, Chloe, Olivia, Tyler, Sam; sister, Ruth Stevens; niece, Jeanette (Eric) Romkey; and many nieces and nephews. <br> <br> <br> <br>Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Thomas; son, Tommy in infancy; sisters, Grace, Lillian, Blanche, Marion; brothers, Aubrey, Stanley, Clifford, Samuel, Willford; and nephew, Earl. <br> <br> <br> <br>Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Society, or Oakwood Terrace. <br> <br> <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Woodland United Church, 54 Woodlawn Rd, Dartmouth, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in Woodlawn United Church Cemetery. <br> <br> <br> <br>The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Oakwood for their compassionate care. <br> <br></div>
