<div itemprop="description"><br>Dorothy Ilene Higgins<br>It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Ilene Higgins, 93, formerly of Fall River, NS, announces her passing on June 12, 2016 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, NS, with family members by her side. Born in Truro, NS, she was the daughter of Reverend Seymour and Lina (Irwin) Custance.<br>Dorothy attended schools in Colchester, Hants and Kings Counties and later taught school in Lunenburg and Halifax Counties. Dorothy married Lawrence “Larry” Higgins in 1942 and they shared 54 years together before his passing. Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening with a faithful dog close by. One of the highlights for her was the annual trip to Florida and she also looked forward to many trips with Carolyn and her sons to watch their hockey games. <br>Dorothy is survived by her son, Ronald (Isabel) Higgins; son-in-law, Salvatore “Sam” Fabrizi; daughter, Janine (Steve) Foster; grandchildren, Suzanne Higgins, Angela (Ken) Burns, Marcello (Joanne) Fabrizi, Nino (Kim) Fabrizi, Justin Swann, Dorien Foster; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Higgins in 2006; daughter, Carolyn Fabrizi in 2010; sister, Jessie in infancy.<br>As per Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Fall River Cemetery. No flowers by request.
