Irvan Michael Podrouzek
March 23, 2013
PODROUZEK, Irvan Michael, 80 - Halifax It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Irvan Michael Podrouzek. He died at the Camphill Veterans Memorial Building on March 23, 2013. Irvan was born in Montreal Quebec, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Landa) Podrouzek. He grew up in Sydney, Cape Breton, and Irvan always enjoyed visiting his friends on Cape Breton. Irvan joined the Canadian Armed Forces (RCRs) and in his 30-plus years in the military he served across Canada and overseas in Korea, Egypt, and two tours in Germany. After his retirement Irvan was involved with many groups including the Canadian Airborne Forces Association, the Korean Veterans Association, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was an active member of the Masons and the Philae Shriners. He also enjoyed volunteering at the IWK. Of all his activities time spent with his family and friends was his greatest pleasure. Irvan was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Donalda, whom he never ceased to miss, and his sister, Dorothy (Podrouzek) Alteen. Irvan is survived by his sons Wayne Podrouzek (Burnaby BC), Allan (Christine) Podrouzek (Halifax NS) and grandchildren Melanie, Cynthia, Michael, Mark, and Katherine. In accordance with his wishes he has been cremated. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held April 5th from 2-6 PM at Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch 162, 45 Sackville Cross Road, Lower Sackville.
