<div itemprop="description">Age 75, of Dartmouth passed away June 28, 2016 at the Victoria General Hospital. <br> <br>Born in Windsor, Ontario, Ken is a son of Victor Garant and Margaret Trepanier. <br> <br>Ken would often comment about sad events, “Sometimes shit happens” which would then be followed by sage advice, “Just be thankful each day that you are all on the green side of the sod.” <br> <br>Besides being the family philosopher, Ken’s charm and sense of humor endeared him to many. He loved golf, bowling, building and flying remote control airplanes, darts, gardening, wood-working and meeting his friends every morning at Second Cup. Ken was active on his church council and designed and created the church candle stand. <br> <br>After retiring from the Navy, Ken worked as a rigger at the Dockyard until 1996. A proud moment while on board the Athabascan was helping rescue men overboard at sea. <br> <br>Ken will be missed by his loving wife, Sandra; daughter Lisette (James Brown) Garant; step-daughter Karen Turner; sons Dan (Barb); and Alex; step-son Blair; sister Betty Ann (Fred) Wilkinson. His grandchildren Adèsse, Louis, Keenen, Evan, Kennedy, and Darcy will miss their Papa and Grand Pere deeply. <br> <br>He was predeceased by his father, Victor; brother, Chuck; and first wife Blondine. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 2 2016 at St Peter’s Church Cemetery, 1152 Rte 335 <br> <br>Middle West Pubnico, NS with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation. <br> <br>We'll be having an informal gathering in Dartmouth for all friends and family on Monday July 4th at 7PM in the hall at the Grace Lutheran Church, 40 Caldwell Road, Dartmouth. Ken always loved getting together with friends and family, hope to see you there!</div>
