<div itemprop="description">JOYCE, Laughlin James 'Lockie' It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Laughlin 'Lockie' Joyce on January 30, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 87. Born in Halifax in 1928, he was the youngest son of the late Edward and Annie (Simmons) Joyce. Dad was a gentleman, with a big heart, he was a kind, generous person with a great sense of humour, but the most important thing to Dad was family - he loved having them around. Dad was a good, hard worker, with a great work ethic yet he was very easy going. Early in his working years he briefly worked for the CNR before becoming a letter carrier for Canada Post. The job of a letter carrier was a perfect fit for Dad as he was great people person and loved his job, remaining there for over 30 years until his retirement. Dad was not just friendly to everyone but he had a genuine interest in all the people he met in his life. He loved meeting people from all walks of life sharing stories with them and then with his family. He was a great story teller. Dad enjoyed hunting along with fishing and traveling with his wife Carol and everything hockey, except the Leafs, but he really enjoyed being involved with the Annual Canada Post Hockey tournaments and traveling coast to coast for these tournaments. As he joins his wife Carol again he will be leaving behind his children: Patricia, Halifax; Rick (Janice), Cole Harbour; Anne, Halifax; Carolyn (Emile), Airdrie; Peggy and Heather, Halifax; grandchildren Adam (Lianna), Cole Harbour; Matthew, Dartmouth; Madelyn and Alannah, Calgary; sister, Margaret; brothers, Andy and Don (Kay). Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol; brothers, Jack, Eddie and Alan. Funeral mass will be held on Friday February 5, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 6476 Bayers Rd., Halifax. There will be a reception to follow in the church hall. Family burial will be at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to St. Thomas Cemetery Fund, East Dover or Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of St. Catherine of Siena.
