<div itemprop="description">Eldershaw, Margaret Helen (Purcell), Lawrencetown, Halifax Co. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our family matriarch at QEII Infirmary on Friday, May 23 at the age of 92. Born Oct 5, 1921 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Moran) Purcell. She served her country in the Canadian Women&rsquo;s Army Corp during WWII. In 1958 with her husband&rsquo;s sudden passing, she found herself a widow with four young children. Being a proud and independent woman, she spent the remainder of her life working hard to support her children, making them her top priority. In later life she enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald Eldershaw, siblings Jimmy Purcell, Fred Purcell and Mary Babineau. She is survived by her children Don (Joanne) of Mill Cove, Fred (Bonnie) of Lawrencetown, Rob (Laura) of Dartmouth and Margie (George) Burton of Lawrencetown, best friend and sister Kathleen Devlin, of Halifax, grandchildren Peggy (Bob) Doyle, Andy Duval, Anita (Steve) Eldershaw, Becky (Jody) Bond, Donnie (Melissa) Burton, Frank (Kathleen) Eldershaw, Robbie (Kaitlin) Eldershaw, Amy Eldershaw and Colleen (James) Eldershaw, great-grandchildren Macarius, Julia, Grace, Sam, Cameron, Jon, Maddie, Emily and Mitchell and many fondly remembered nieces and nephews. As per her wishes she has been cremated. There will be a Mass followed by a reception at Saint John XXIII, Cole Harbour, officiated by Father Irek Bem on Wednesday, May 28 at 11:00am. Burial at Mount Olivet, Halifax at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. We would like to thank all those who gave her comfort near the end, especially Father Owen Connolly and the hospital chaplain team for their spiritual guidance, and all the QEII staff for their gentle and compassionate care.</div>
