Rodinos, Michael (aka M.R.), age 93, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2015. Born in Campbellford, Ontario, he was the son of the late Nicholas Rodinos of Crete, Greece, and Evelyn Chrisovergis of Halki, Greece. Raised in Glace Bay Cape Breton, Michael excelled academically and was an accomplished baseball player in the 1940's. He graduated from Acadia University and NS Technical College. Michael moved to Montreal in 1947 to pursue a career as a professional engineer, where he met and married the love of his life Aliki Kornikakas. As a Renaissance man, Michael had varied interests including science, art, music, literature and philosophy. He was sharp witted with an engaging personality. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed discussion, while constantly challenging his own and others thoughts. When you walked into a room Michael made you feel like you were meant to be there. He had a brilliant mind and used it well. Michael and his wife Aliki were avid card players and founding members of the "Very Clever Poker League" with special mention of close friends and members, Frank McGinn and Hart Stoffman. As a secular humanist, Michael believed that one should live life to the fullest with no illusions. Always question ones existence and grab hold of what life has to offer. One of his essential beliefs was to take control of reality so as to make one’s life more fulfilling, thus less unhappy. He lived his life as he practiced, existentially. Many an evening (soiree) was spent in thought provoking discussions about the importance of thinking about life and the pursuit of happiness. His charismatic personality and philosophy of life left a lasting impression on all those who knew him. He was a generous, kind and caring man. He will be missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his son Nicholas Rodinos (Brenda MacLean); Grandchildren: Anika Rodinos (Phillip Pineo), James Rodinos (Ella Roller), Michael Gosselin, Melina Gosselin and Sean Ryan. Brother-in-Law: George Kournikakis. Son-in-Law: Remi Gosselin (Ellen). Many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. With special mention of cousins Helen Xidos, Vince Kachafanas, nephew and niece, George and Ann Viglas. Many thanks to Jamelia David and all those involved in his home care during the last several years. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Interment will take place with his wife Aliki in a special place with a view. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.coleharbourfuneral.com
