<div itemprop="description">Myrna Ferguson passed away peacefully in Mary’s arms on May 18, 2016 at the Victoria General Hospital after a long, valiant journey with cancer.<br><br>Myrna was the youngest daughter of the late Robbie and Leta Ferguson of The Falls, Nova Scotia.<br><br>Myrna attended North Colchester High School (NCHS) and graduated from St. Mary’s University in Halifax. She lived and worked in Vancouver for 18 years, and returned to Truro where she trained as a HSW/CCA and joined the VON in 1999.<br><br>In 2012 she changed careers, returning to the hospitality industry and held the position of assistant executive housekeeper at Holiday Inn, Harbourview, Dartmouth. <br>Myrna was known for her passion for playing cards, especially “45s”. She also loved hockey, books, and had a zeal for fitness and weightlifting. She had a deep connection with animals, especially her “furry children” Bridget, Jasper, and Libby. She will be remembered for always having an energy of positivity and trust in the universe.<br><br>She is survived by her loving spouse of 22 years, Mary Burns; sisters Mabel Newson, The Falls; Marilyn (Robert) Goff, Sydney, Australia; and nieces and nephews.<br><br>Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Mona in infancy.<br><br>Cremation has taken place. A celebration Myrna’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to QEII Foundation, designated to Cancer Care Nova Scotia for patient financial support.
