PEACHEY, MYRNA FERNE - Age 67, on March 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family Myrna left this world when she was called home by her Lord and Saviour. A devote Christian with passion for the Lord. Myrna embraced life in a manner many could only dream of. She was born on August 5, 1948 in Charlottetown, PEI. She was the daughter of the late Julius “Duke” Nielsen and Helen (Dennis) Bendall. In 1967, Myrna married George; the man who stole her heart with whom she spent over fifty years. A wedding industry professional for more than 20 years, Myrna was the business owner of the very successful Atlantic Wedding Showcase. Her event planning talent was shared with brides and grooms in both Halifax and Charlottetown each year. Myrna’s heart was filled with passion and she embraced life and everything it threw at her, with grace, a positive outlook and an amazing sense of humor. Even a diagnosis of lung cancer recently couldn’t hold her down; Myrna continued to seek out ways to live life to the fullest and make things easier for all those around her. All lives and moments were better when Myrna was involved. Those who knew Myrna knew of her unlimited ability to support her family. She was best known for the love she shared with them. Her husband George and daughters Corrina and Leslie have many memories of being able to achieve their goals because of Myrna’s support. As the family grew that same passion and support was extended to Scott and Jimmie. Even more love filled Myrna's heart when her grandchildren entered her world. Anything that Mike, Samantha and Jessica were involved in, Nana had a front row seat. There was no more a passionate cheerleader than Myrna.
While Myrna worked at the job she loved until just last year, she and George pretended to be retired every summer by staying at Marco Polo Land, Cavendish, PEI. Lots of sunshine, lobster and laughter surrounded her. Her favorite moments were cruising the Island with the top down in her mustang and couldn’t wait for her family and friends to visit. In the winter, Myrna knew others would benefit from her many talents. She freely gave her time for decorating, organizing and serving on the board of Hillside Wesleyan Church. If there was a need, Myrna found a way to fill it. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband George; daughters Corrina (Scott) Alexander and Leslie (James) Penney; grandson Michael; granddaughters Samantha and Jessica; brother Gary (Donna) Nielsen, Montague, PEI; sister Betty Giberson, Saint John, NB and her Hillside family. She was predeceased by brothers Frederick, Winston and Julius. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday March 12 at Hillside Wesleyan Church, Parkway Campus, 80 Chameau Cresent, Cole Harbour. Pastor Jay Guptill officiating; reception to follow in the church hall. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Donations can be made to a charity of choice. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Chang and the nurses of the 4th floor, Dartmouth General Hospital for ensuring her comfort and care.
