<div itemprop="description">CAINES (Ransome), Olive - 88, Halifax passed away peacefully December 5, 2016 in St. Vincent's Nursing Home. Born in Newfoundland she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Caines, sister Helen and brother Billy. She is survived by her daughters Glenda Snow (Sam), and Tracey Strang (Thomas), and her son Gregory Caines (Darlene), grandchildren, Lori Newby, Carole Angevine, David Bruce, and Delaney Strang, great-grandchildren Dani, Haley and Alex, sisters, Phyllis and Shirley, brothers, Ray and Jim, and many nieces and nephews. At a young age of 16, Olive travelled to Halifax for work. A couple of years later she made the journey back to Newfoundland to marry her sweetheart. In 1956 with two small children in tow, they started a new life in Nova Scotia. Olive was a loving mother, a fantastic cook, and kept a very meticulous home. After the passing of her husband she kept up “Poppy's” tradition and never let her grandchildren leave without a small gift. Olive warmly welcomed everyone into her home and you knew you couldn't leave without a cup of tea and one of her famous scones. Olive's faith in the Bible's promises for the future gave her strength through her difficult times. Many thanks to everyone who supported her family over the last few years. Memorial service to be held in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 77 Beaverbank Rd., Lower Sackville, Friday, December 9th at 6pm. Donations in memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Society Halifax.
