Alipuria, Ramesh ‘Ray’ Ambaram – 82, of Dartmouth, peacefully passed away at home on July 2nd, 2014.
Born in Khadsupa, Gujarat, India, he was the only son of Ambaram and Rukshmani Alipuria. Tirelessly hard-working, he started his own business (Taj Mahal Gifts) upon his arrival in Canada in 1967, which he continued until his retirement in 1998. He valued all forms of education and was always eager to learn or teach himself something new. Never idle, he could design, build and repair almost anything and enjoyed the challenge of an unsolved problem. He appreciated technology, reading, music, good food, philosophy and countless other interests. He loved his family above all else and did his utmost for their happiness and well-being. A contented man who believed in the power of positive thinking and in doing only good to others, he set an example to many with his quest for knowledge. His faith was unshakeable as was his belief in the goodness of all people. He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity and constant love for all he knew.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Sudha ‘Champa’ (Topiwala), daughter Monali Dhamdachia; the son-in-law whom he loved as a son, Mukesh Dhamdachia; grandson, Dylan, who gave him the most joy, and sister, Sumitra (Chandrakant) Topiwala (Dartmouth); nieces and nephews and many cousins worldwide.
Dr. S. Swaminathan officiated the private cremation ceremony; there will be no funeral or visitation, as per the family’s request. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the efforts, patience and kindness of Dr. Peter C.K. Lee; Dr. Lori Wood, nurse Pat Chatterton, Dr. Bowes and the entire medical team on the 11th floor at the V.G., as well as Northwood Homecare, Revera Home Health, The Red Cross, the VON and Devon Hennigar and his Palliative Care team, who all treated Ramesh with respect and dignity, and did their utmost to provide him with the best quality of life possible.
Online condolences may be offered at: www.coleharbourfuneral.com
