Ray O'Connell
November 25, 1941 - October 4, 2014
O’Connell, Ray Peter 72, – Halifax, passed away October 4, 2014. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary O’Connell.
Ray worked for the City Field, and Ben’s Bakery until his retirement.
He is survived by sons, Ray Miller, Dartmouth; Damon Deveau; daughter, Shannon O’Connell, Dartmouth; brother, Kenneth Payne, Ontario; sisters, Jo-Ann Smith, Dartmouth; Marsha O’Connell, Ontario; six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Ray Peter O’Connell.
Ray was responsible for the inclusion of the Canadian flag in newspaper obituaries for armed forces personnel and Veterans.
His accomplishments are far too many to mention.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road, where visitation will be held Thursday 10 – 11 am. A celebration of life will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Halifax. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.coleharbourfuneral.com
