It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Franklyn Russell on February 13 2017 at his home.

Age 61 of Cole Harbour, he was the loving eldest son of Maureen (DeBaie) and the late Burris "Bub" Russell.

He was a very proud and loving father to daughters Stephanie (Shaun) and Stacey (David); a caring and supportive brother to Nancy (Seldon), Steven (Linda) and Colette; and a wonderful grandfather who loved to spoil Alexander, Lily, Olivia, and Charlotte. He was an Uncle, a cousin, and a friend to many.

Rick was a happily retired (and proudly skilled) lineman with over 37 years of dedicated service to Nova Scotia Power. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and family, camping trips, a long motorcycle ride on a sunny day, and his mother's freshly baked bread. Like his father, he enjoyed playing cards and cribbage, and had a sarcastic sense of humor that could always make a hard time a bit easier. He had a kind heart and we could always rely on his calm nature and voice to put us at ease and make us feel safe. His kindness, generosity, and carefree nature made him easy to be around, and he will forever be truly and deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 25 in Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road. A reception to follow.

Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.coleharbourfuneral.com.
