<div itemprop="description">DAVIES Robert Vincent John Age 81 of Halifax and Bayswater, passed away on January 19, 2016. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Doris (Ward) and Arthur Davies. Bob worked at CBHT as Unit Manager TV Production and at the Department of Education as Supervisor of Vocational Education. He was the first graduate of Saint Stephen's School. He received his Bachelor of Commerce and Education from Saint Mary's University. He also received a Diploma in Small Business Management from Carleton University, Ottawa. Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Squires (Lower Sackville); sister, Marion Houlihan; brother, Bill (Carleton Place, Ont.). Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Lynch); sons, Bruce (Cynthia), Matthew (Jill); daughters,-Donna (Anne) and Paula (George); son-in-law, Steve Squires (Sue); grandchildren, Kelly (Kevin) Murphy,-Leah and Sarah Davies, Griffin and Dillon Gibson, Calgary, Alta., as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the A. MacKay Crowd, his adopted brother, Jack Ingram and his lovely wife Jo, as well as Jim MacLennan and Dermot Mulroney, commonly known as the Vocational Education Crowd. Bob was very active in sport, both as a player and coach. He coached lacrosse, hockey, as well as Special Olympics. He was most proud of these Special Olympians who brought home a bronze medal from Toronto. Bob played softball, slow pitch, football, soccer, curling, hockey and golf. He was also Scout Master for third Fairview. Bob was a member of Mayflower Curling Club and Brookfield Golf Club. At 55, Bob suffered a heart attack but thanks to the many professional health care workers at the old VG, he was brought back to live a full pain-free life. The skills and care he received from Dr. Sullivan and his staff cannot be understated at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and especially to Margo and Jill who direct special heart programs. The Heart Function Clinic provided special care to Bob after he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. This unique staff of professionals guided Bob in his later years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Bob took part in four Heart Study programs at the QEII Hospital. We want to thank Dr. Sapp and his staff for their wonderful care. A service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31 in the Sky Lounge, 2717 Gladstone St., Halifax. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville at a later date.
