<div itemprop="description">Zachernuk, Serge, Middle Sackville. The family sadly announces Serge&rsquo;s passing on March 18, 2013 in the QEII with family by his side. Born in Lukov, Ukraine, in 1935. Serge came to Canada in 1949 from war torn Europe with his parents and brother. He was the last remaining member of that family. His first years in Canada were in Alberta where he finished his schooling before entering the field of finance and eventually banking. In that career, he specialized in the industrial division. He was part of a team that incorporated a new bank in Canada. His career allowed the family to experience life in many Canadian cities. In each home, Serge and family became involved in the community and enjoyed exploring the region. Second to his family Serge loved Canada and was appreciative of life in his chosen country. His favourite peeve was misuse of the English language. Serge was a loving mate, very proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. Saddened by his death is his wife Marjorie (Bradford). Also left to mourn are his sons: Dennis (Deborah) Salmon Arm, B.C.; Timothy (Guilan) Qinghai, China; Philip (Carol) Halifax, N.S. Gregory (Barbara) Chemainus, B.C. He leaves nine grandchildren in Canada, USA, New Zealand, China and Japan, and five great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team that cared so well for Serge. Thanks to the visiting nurses of the V.O.N. Thank you to Dr. Nancy Robertson. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Serge&rsquo;s life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care QE11 Health Sciences Centre or The Victorian Order of Nurses. On line condolences may be sent to ww.coleharbourfuneral.com</div>
