Thomas "Paul" McGrath
September 21, 1931 - June 28, 2014
McGrath, Thomas “Paul” -Age 82, of Halifax, died peacefully on June 28th,2014 in the QEII hospital, VG Site. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Perce and Nora (Redmond) McGrath. After attending college for horticultural studies, Paul served in the US army during the Korean War and later relocated with his family to Chatham, NB. Here he met the love of his life, married and started a family. Paul was a great baseball fan and player and was a proud member of the Chatham Ironmen. Later they moved to Riverview, NB where Paul had a successful career as a Horticultural salesman, joined the Lions Club and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting and fly fishing in the Miramichi. He is survived by son Stephen (Judy) McGrath; daughters, Kerry Ann (David) Gibson, Paula Reid; Noella (Paul) Leggio, Judi-Dawn (Jeremy) Bulmer; grandchildren Melanie, Matthew and Kaleigh Gibson, Neil and Lyle Reid, Brianna, Dina, and Bianca Leggio. Paul was also happy to recently be part of four generations with his first great grandchild "Amaia Rose". Also survived by his sister Mary (Bart) Moar. He was predeceased by wife Doris (Murdoch); brother Harold and sister Barbara Nuccio. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will take place at St. Peter's Parish in Ketch Harbour, 1082 Ketch Harbour Road at 11:00am on Thursday July 3rd, 2014. Reception to be held in St. Peter's Hall following service.
