<div itemprop="description">SHAVER, Valerie Evelyn <br /> <br />It is with deep &amp; heartfelt sadness that the family of Valerie Evelyn (Ord) Shaver announces her peaceful passing on March 13, 2014, at the age of 83 years. <br /> <br />Born in Dartmouth, in the summer of 1930, Valerie was the last of three beautiful, talented &amp; gifted sisters, the youngest daughter of the late Bertie &amp; Kathleen (Walker) Ord,. <br /> <br />She will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Donald. In addition to Donald, she is survived by her son Richard (Virginia MacLellan) of Scotsburn, Nova Scotia &amp; her daughter, Gillian, of Dartmouth. She also leaves behind her dearly beloved grandchildren, Colin Shaver,Trenton Ontario &amp; Helen Shaver, at home. In addition to her parents, Valerie was predeceased by sisters Muriel (Gerald Bell), Southampton, England and Vivienne (Charles Thomson), London Ontario. <br /> <br />Valerie trained as a laboratory technician at the pathology laboratory in Halifax &amp; received her advanced registered technologist (ART) accreditation before transferring to Cornwall, Ontario. After several years&rsquo;, Valerie returned to Nova Scotia with her husband to raise her family, remaining in Dartmouth for the remainder of her life. <br /> <br />Artistic &amp; imaginative, Valerie enjoyed using her skill to create things both functional &amp; pleasing to the eye, &amp; took particular delight in the beauty of simple things around her, a fresh snowfall, flowers in the Spring or the sight of a tree trimmed in Autumn colours. <br /> <br />Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service, at Valerie&rsquo;s request. Memorial donations may be made to charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care &amp; direction of Cole Harbour Funeral Home and Crematorium.
