<div itemprop="description">Hickey, Shirley May - Age 89, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2017. Born in Toronto, she later moved to Halifax in 1950 to marry her husband John and spent the next 45 years working as a private secretary. She loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed by son John (Darlene) and daughter Leslie and "golden" grandchildren Destiny (Gio) and Jason (Aly) and great grandchildren Briegha and Braxton and also sister Lois. Predeceased by loving husband John (2006) and sister Jackie (2015) she will also be missed by many dear and lifelong friends. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. She had many hobbies, topping her list would be her joy for art and cars. She not only loved to paint but enjoyed teaching others. Her passion for cars was evident in all the flashy convertibles that she owned over the years. These hobbies sadly came to a premature ending due to her loss of vision. Her later years were spent living with Leslie and precious cats Diva and Bunny. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4 pm Friday April 7th at Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road. No service by request. A private family interment service will be held at a later date.
